Chelsea manager wants to challenge on all fronts this season.

Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo takes his side to Villa Park on Sunday hoping to kick-start a successful campaign for the Londoners after their remarkable Cup successes last time around.

The Italian led Chelsea to titles in both The FA Cup and the UEFA Champions League and is now hoping to add another title to the roster in the shame of The FA Community Shield on Sunday.

They face opposition from Premier League champions Manchester City, who Di Matteo hopes will be rivals for the crown over the next nine months.

"It is always nice to be involved in The Community Shield and to compete for a piece of silverware in the very first game of the campaign," said Di Matteo.

"It should also be a high-quality game, between the Premier League champions and The FA Cup and Champions League winners, here at Villa Park.

"However, we are now beginning a fresh season and we want to look ahead. Once again, our objective is to fight for every competition that we are competing in. We have two trophies to defend and we want to improve on our performance in the Premier League as well.

"Now the players are ready to go for the season ahead and this is obviously a great game to begin with - a showpiece match between two clubs who will want to challenge for trophies again this season."

It's still hard for Di Matteo and anyone connected with Chelsea FC not to look back with fondness at those weeks in May when the club collected the Champions League and FA Cup titles and he hopes that can be the start of many more honours in the future.

"The way in which we ended last season perfectly capped off a fantastic journey for the players and the supporters, who deserve every success this club achieves," he added.

"The feeling of winning two major trophies - first at Wembley and, then, in Munich - was one that none of us will forget. Chelsea continued its great tradition in The FA Cup and added its name to the Champions League trophy, something that so many people connected with the club had dreamed about for many years."
