No Westcountry winners on first day of football season

Whats the odds of that ?

  • LEAGUE ONE
YEOVIL TOWN 1 - 1 COVENTRY

Yeovil and Coventry's first ever meeting ended with a draw in the sunshine at Huish Park.
The visitors, relegated from the Championship last season, opened the scoring in the 10th minute through Cody McDonald.

But defender Richard Hinds equalised for The Glovers with his third goal in two games in the 21st minute.
Hinds thought he had won the game late on after volleying home Jamie McAllister's free-kick, but the referee disallowed the goal for a handball.

  • LEAGUE TWO
FLEETWOOD TOWN 0 - 0 TORQUAY UNITED

Torquay picked up a point at League new-boys Fleetwood Town.

Gulls goalkeeper Michael Poke made several good saves to spoil the home fans' party.
Ian Morris missed Torquay's best chance five minutes from time, and Rene Howe also had a goal disallowed for a push.

PLYMOUTH ARGYLE 0 - 2 ALDERSHOT TOWN

Argyle suffered an opening day defeat at Home Park.

Manager Carl Fletcher kept faith with the same team that eased past Portsmouth in the Capital One Cup on Tuesday, but despite having the majority of possession, they lacked the killer instinct in front of goal.

Aldershot sneaked an early lead with defender Troy Brown heading in a free-kick after just five minutes.
The visitors doubled their lead eight minutes into the second half from the penalty spot.

Michael Rankine was fouled in the area, and Josh Payne sent Jake Cole the wrong way.
Argyle's best chance of the match came immediately after the restart, but Conor Hourihane’s 20 yard half-volley dropped just over the bar.

EXETER CITY 0 - 3 MORECAMBE

Three defensive blunders gifted Morecambe the three points at St James Park.

In the 14th minute, defender Craig Woodman played the ball across his own box straight into the path of Andrew Fleming, and he didn't waste his present.

Fleming scored again ten minutes later when Artur Krysiak's attempted clearance hit the striker. City's goalkeeper could only watch as Fleming lobbed the ball over him and into the net.
And just eight minutes later, the Grecians' shocker of a first half was complete when Izak Reid scored after two defenders missed a simple ball into the area.
