Chelsea's teenage striker Romelu Lukaku joined Premier League side West Bromwich Albion on a season's loan on Friday.
Lukaku
has struggled to make his mark at Stamford Bridge since an £18 million
($28 million ) transfer from Anderlecht last year and the Belgian
international has opted for a switch to the Hawthorns in his search for
first-team action.
The 19-year-old was prevented from being
loaned out last season under FIFA rules, having already played for
Anderlecht, but those barriers were lifted this summer, much to Lukaku's
delight.
"I'm very excited. After last season, where I was able
to adjust and prepare for this season, I can't wait to start at West
Brom," he told Chelsea TV.
"It's very important because, like
Chelsea, West Brom play in the Premier League, but it will also be a
good learning school for me where I need to work hard with the players
around me.
"I've heard a lot of positives about Steve Clarke here
and it will be important for me to listen and learn from him. He plays
good football."
