Stoke City have signed Dynamo Kiev defender Goran Popov on loan, according to the Daily Telegraph.
Stoke boss Tony Pulis has been looking for a specialist left-sided
defender for a while now with central defender Danny Wilson filing the
void last season.
Twenty-seven-year-old Popov started his career with local Macedonian
side Belasica and then moved to Greece with Proodeftiki and AEK Athens.
He signed for Red Star Belgrade in 2004 but injuries prevented him from
making an impact.
Popov joined Dutch club Heerenveen in July 2008. After two
successful seasons in Holland he returned to eastern Europe with Dynamo
Kiev. The Macedonian international impressed Tony Pulis in Dynamo’s
colors during last season’s Europa League games against Stoke City.
Popov has agreed a deal for the season, with a view to a permanent
move. He becomes the second defender Stoke have signed in the close
season, after American Geoff Cameron joined from the MLS.
